IBM Gigabit Ethernet Server Connectivity Module for eServer BladeCenter 8677 by superwarehouse.com
IBM Gigabit Ethernet Server Connectivity Module for eServer BladeCenter 8677 by superwarehouse.com

Server Connectivity Module for BladeCenter is an Ethernet SCM designed to meet the requirements of small and medium business (SMB) clients. Configuration and management of the SCM is easy and intuitive for a server administrator who may have limited networking skills and knowledge. SMB clients often have simple network infrastructure requirements or have limited on-site networking skills. The configuration and management of the SCM for BladeCenter features an intuitive GUI for easy configuration and management. The networking features are designed so that an improperly configured device cannot disrupt the network infrastructure. The SCM is also ideal for those clients who prefer a separation between the server and networking domains. It delivers special features that limit control of certain networking functions from the module itself. While some of this network partitioning can be addressed with the IBM pass-thru modules, certain current and future chassis management requirements are not enabled with the pass-thru modules such as Serial over LAN (SoL). The SCM supports SoL and future chassis management features. Similar to the pass-thru modules, the SCM will not have regular feature updates through firmware upgrades.
